April 23rd, 2008 · No Comments

Marlango is a trio originating in Spain. The band members are Leonor Watling (vocals), Alejandro Pelayo (piano), and Oscar Ybarra (trumpet). In 1998, Leonor and Alejandro began working a side project which include 14 songs which would be the blueprint for the band’s sound; in the summer of 2002 Oscar Ybarra entered the mix, and the band Marlango was formed.

The band’s first album was launched in February of 2004 in the band’s native land of Spain. The album received much success and was certified gold in Spain (over 50,000 certified copies sold). Marlango’s self-titled debut had various influences including Jazz, Rock, and Soul, and the lyrics can transfer you back to an era of cabarets. Due to the success of “Marlango” they were able to tour around Europe and even Japan. In September of 2005 the band released “Automatic Imperfection” and it also was certified gold (in Spain) with over 60,000 certified copies sold. Due to the band’s emerging fan base they were signed to Universal records in 2007, and a new edition of “Marlango” was released entitled “Selection” in various countries. The band’s latest album entitled “The Electrical Morning” was also released in 2007, and to date has sold over 25,000 copies in Spain, the first single entitled “Hold me tight” reached the number one slot.
